Warnings

After replacing the electric steering lock, connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle's EOBD socket, go to the BCM control unit in the "Various Functions" menu and launch the procedure "TRANSFER THE SECRET CODE FROM BCM TO ECM/ESL"; official diagnostics or an equivalent Pass-Thru will be required.

Details

After replacing the electric steering lock, connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle's EOBD socket, go to the BCM control unit in the "Various Functions" menu and run the procedure "TRANSFER THE SECRET CODE FROM BCM TO ECM/ESL". Official diagnosis or an equivalent Pass-Thru will be required.

Typical Errors and Defects

Typical Defects:
The steering does not unlock / The steering wheel remains locked
No communication with other control units
The instrument panel does not turn on
The key turns, but the vehicle does not start

Error Codes:
B1000-01 - Electronic control unit electrical anomaly
B1010-09 - Steering lock motor, component anomaly
B1010-71 - Steering lock motor locked
U0426-64 - Incorrect response from power steering module
U1721-87 - Power steering lock motor command
