The OE MultiAir module 46339031è an electro-hydraulic actuator designed to control the’variable lift of the intake valves in gasoline engines. In the FireFly Turbo 3 cylinder 1.0 T3 of the FCA/Stellantis group (displacement 999 cc), introduced in Europe starting from 2018, this system allows precise control of the’intake for each cylinder, optimizing consumption, performance, and emissions. The module è installed directly on the cylinder head, operates thanks to engine oil pressure and è is electronically regulated by the ECU control unit.
Potential anomalies
Clogging of the hydraulic circuit
Contaminated oil or irregular oil changes lead to the occlusion of microchannels. This causes delays in’valve opening, jerking, and irregular performance.
Internal mechanical wear
With prolonged use (over 100.000 km), pistons, valves, and springs may fail, generating abnormal play and loss of pressure.
Solenoid failure
The electrical/hydraulic blockage of the solenoids causes the cylinder to malfunction. The engine runs on 2 cylinders, the warning light comes on, and the idle becomes irregular.
