TIPS AND WARNINGS TO FOLLOW BEFORE REPLACING THE TURBO
Before replacing the turbocharger, you must fully understand the causes that led to its failure.
The operations described below are essential to avoid a second failure and consequently a warranty claim.
In case of a warranty claim, the performance of these essential replacement/cleaning operations must be demonstrable by invoice. If they are not shown, the warranty claim will NOT be considered.
DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED, PERFORM THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS FOR A PROPER TURBO REPLACEMENT.
LUBRICATION
- Thorough cleaning and/or replacement of the oil inlet and outlet pipes.
- Turbo failure may have produced metal filings that circulate freely in the lubrication system. Before undertaking the repair, replace the engine oil and oil filter. After completing the work, run the engine briefly to help expel impurities and then change the oil and filter again.
- Check that the oil pump pickup inside the oil pan is not clogged. If it is, carefully clean and/or replace the oil pump.
- Check the efficiency and perform a thorough cleaning of the oil vapor recovery valve.
INTAKE ( The turbo whistles under acceleration )
- Check that the turbo's air delivery hoses have no cracks; if they do, replace them. A small piece of rubber sucked into the turbo that strikes the wheel at 100,000 rpm has devastating effects.
